A Clear Case of Poodle Discrimination

Yesterday, it was Take Your Daughters and Sons To Work Day at Michele's job. Yea, great, but no poodles allowed. Max and Me thought Michele was going to boycott, but then David came and told us he was getting to go.

And sure enough, he did. Here is our old friend, Judy, leading David in a chair parade.

And there's David's pal, Bergen, with his mom Aimee.

And, finally, Asiah, with her grandma Kathy. Kathy is, you may recall, also Max's grandma. Which makes this particular slight sting a bit extra for him.

After the chair parade, Bergen did try to get some work done. But it didn't last.

He gave up and took David and Asiah on a tour of the Capitol Campus. Bergen lives nearby, and gets to play there all the time. Lucky guy.

David really liked the giant fountain.

After that, Bergen said it was time to go to the big dome, so they headed to the Legislative Building.

And climbed all those stairs, just so they could bang these giant door knockers.

Max and Me probably couldn't even reach them, so we guess it is okay we were stuck at home. Maybe next year.

Like Peas In A Pod

Max and Me got nothing to add. Other than to note, like we have many times before, it just gets crazier and crazier around here.

Rocks In The Water!

David's new favorite thing is going to throw rocks in the water. He runs around the house, hollering "rocks in the water" to anyone who might listen. Today, after daycare, Michele and Kristin took him down to the beach. But after throwing a few rocks, David found something else. A bat.

Well. Max and Me would call it a stick, but you get the idea.

The Times They Are A-Changing

Today, our friend Jennie came over a visit. Even though she was first a friend to Max and Me, David kept calling her "my Jennie." Max and Me thought that was a bit rude.

After Jennie left, Michele announced it was time for David to do some serious training. She said he is really going to have to pick it up once the twins arrive. So, first he learned the most important task: giving treats to Max and Me.

Then he got a lesson in filling our water bowl.

And finally, what Michele claimed was important - how to entertain himself. Max and Me think David did a pretty good job today, but we are still worried about this place.

Patty PT

Today, Evie came for a visit. And then Patty came over. And then it got crazy. Patty decided Evie and David needed to get some exercise. First, Evie had to do some climbing.

Then Patty said it was David's turn. He wasn't so sure.

But Patty wasn't taking no for an answer.

A bit later, there was some dancing.

And crazy flips.

Then Patty said it was time for some yoga.

Max and Me think there is something wrong with this picture.

After all that exercise, Patty finally let David have what he really wanted.

About To Burst

Max and Me have been waiting and waiting to tell you all some really big news. Finally, Kristin and Michele said we could spill the beans. You might have wondered why Max and Me were having to take such good care of Kristin lately.

Well. Max and Me can hardly believe it, but David is going to be a big brother. Times two.

The babies aren't going to be here until December, but already they are making Kristin really tired.

But don't worry, Max and Me are making sure she gets plenty of rest.

Another Step Closer

Today, David became legally free, meaning Max and Me are one step closer to making him ours forever and ever. To celebrate, Michele and Kristin took him to the waterfront after daycare to throw rocks. And they got him a rooster cupcake.

Yep, you read that correctly.

David didn't seem to think it was weird at all and went right to eating it.

Max and Me are real proud of how well he eats frosting.

And cake. He must have known this was a big day, because he just about ate the whole thing.

Ice Cream!

David enjoyed his very first ice cream cone on Sunday. At first, he didn't know what to think.

I tried to show him how to eat it.

And Max was willing to help too.

But David said he didn't need any help.

When it started to melt, Max and Me moved in.

And why not? Just look at all he was wasting.

But he wasn't sharing. Max and Me had to take matters into our own paws. It didn't end well. But, Max and Me got some ice cream cone. And we got yelled at. Sheesh. Maybe next time David will share.

Is It Summer Already?

Our friends Lianne and Krista came down from Blaine (you know, you can see Canada from their house!) to visit to Tacoma this weekend. Michele and Kristin and David took them to the beach.

In this shot, you can see, if you look closely, Kristin's "active parenting." Hmm...

David really liked the long slide!

But not the wood chips in his sandals. No worries, Krista helped him out.

After lunch and nap, they all found another beach. Better for rock throwing, David said.

And throw he did. A lot. All at once.

On the way home, he got to break all the rules. Chips. In the car. Max and Me were real jealous.

But later Kristin let Max and Me help pick out dinner from the garden. Slim pickings, if you ask Max and Me. Which nobody did.

Sun! Finally!

Yesterday, we all got outside to play in the sun. David had a lot of fun on his climbing toy.

Then he got Kristin to play some ball with him.

After the ball game, Michele said it was time to cool off. Max and Me and David love to chase the water!

Max and Me aren't sure what Michele and David are laughing at here, but it must have been real funny!

Max and Me did laugh at David a few times. He got real wet.

And then he got some water. Max and Me wonder why anyone would need water in a cup, when there was so much of it for the drinking already!

Finally, when our friend Dana came over, David got dried off and new clothes.

And Max and Me got a bite of cheeseburger! What a great day!
