Beauty Sleep Deficit

Max & Me can't remember the last time we slept the whole night through without a wake up call from either Abby or Emilie. We've noticed for some time the toll this has taken on Kristin and Michele. They just are not getting enough beauty sleep. Please don't tell her we told you this, but Kristin seems to really be in need of some extra beauty sleep. She's developed these big bag-like things under her eyes. We try to bolster Kristin with cheap flattery, but we don't think that is really doing any good. What is really needed is more sound sleep in this house. Michele seems to be perpetually yawning. It's a sad state of affairs. So, last night when the first Abby Alarm went off, Max & Me attended to the problem and let the other girls in the house continue sleeping. It really is not as difficult changing a diaper as one might think. It just takes practice.

The Sky is Blue

We are having an unusually nice day here in the Pacific Northwest. The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, the humans are outside playing and Max & Me have been having a real good time today out in the backyard.

We don't know why, but Kristin has been home with us today. Not that we mind. Both Max & Me are partial to blondes, and Kristin is really cute. And a blonde. So it is kind of fun to have her all to ourselves, with that button stealing Michele gone for the day.

Max really wishes that Abby would stop sticking her fingers in his mouth, though. It seems so unsanitary to him. I agree. I don't allow Abby to take such liberties with me.

A House Divided

Tensions were high between Max & Me while we watched last night's debate between Hillary and Barack. Max got dressed up in his new suit. Michele and Kristin took away our Barack and Hillary buttons because Max & Me were sort of fighting over them, trying to remove each other's button. I'll admit it was a bit undignified and we should be ashamed of ourselves.

We had pizza for dinner during the debate. That was the first time in a long long time we had dinner in front of the TV instead of at the dining room table. It was good pizza.

I'm sure it will aggravate the majority of this House Divided, but I added a Barack button to Max & Me's Blog. It's my own personal version of the Fairness Doctrine.

Blue & Barack

Well, I got ahold of my uncle in Texas yesterday. He's my favorite uncle by far, so smart and good-looking. Max & Me like to think we take after him. In fact he's sort of our role model. He's fun to play with too. So, yesterday I got ahold of my uncle and told him about the Hillary situation in this house and how Michele gave Max a Hillary button after Max defected from the Barack side to the Hill the Pill Camp. My uncle felt my pain cuz he knows what it's like to be outnumbered by opinionated females. So you can imagine how happy I am this morning after Fed-Ex showed up with an overnighted delivery from my uncle in Texas of my very own Barack button!!!

Max & Hillary

Michele gave Max a Hillary button yesterday. It sort of aggravates me. I've got no one who will give me a Barack button. So Max is strutting around in his new shoes with his chest puffed up showing off his button. I think I'll call my uncle in Texas today to find out if he is voting for Barack in the Texas primary. I know he went to Dallas and saw Barack last week. But then he also went to see Hillary in Fort Worth. And Bill yesterday in Arlington. If Max ever takes that button off I'm gonna snatch it and hide it where he'll never find it.

Tea Time

Emilie gives Max & Me a lot of treats. Max more than me. He's started to get just a little chunky if you ask me. I took this pic of Emilie giving Max some chocolate. I don't think Michele and Kristin know Me & Max are eating all this extra stuff.

Being well-trained poodles with a highly evolved skill set, Max & Me find ourselves doing some rather odd jobs. Like tea time. Max & Me take turns providing the service of being mobile tea trays. Because we can walk with such perfect posture that we can carry things on our backs without spilling them. But, just between you and us, Max & Me think these girls in this house are a bit lazy and a bit spoiled by all the stuff Max & Me do for them. Not that we mind all that much. But there is just something a tad demeaning about being used as a tea table.

Abby is a Messy Eater

Max & Me like to play on the floor with Abby and Emilie. Emilie likes to spend a lot of time in a cardboard box. She pretends it's her car. But it never moves.

Lately Me & Max have noticed that Abby has been getting food that didn't come out of a bottle. And she is really really messy. We've never seen anything like it. Sometimes food will end up on the floor where Max & Me consider it our job to clean it up. Our house is spotless we'll have you know. Poodles are well known for not only being great housepets we also make great housekeepers.

We Are Such Political Poodles

First off we are happy to announce that this Blogger thing has finally fixed the spell checker. So, the epidemic of Max & Me making spelling errors should come to an end. The bad grammar will continue until a grammar checker is invented.

Second off, Max & Me are currently involved in a very heated political split. Last night, with Abby, we watched the Democrat debate in Austin in our favorite state of Texas between Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Obama.

The 3 of us sat riveted on Abby's bed for almost 2 hours watching the debate and the discussion afterwards. I was shocked, shocked I tell you, that when the debate was over Max turned to me and said he is now for Mrs. Clinton. He thinks she seems more substantial than Mr. Obama. I, however, remain a staunch Baracka-maniac, though I must admit the overzealous cult-like behavior of some of his followers is a bit unsettling to me. I also don't like that he smokes. That seems like counter-intuitive behavior to me in one whom we are wanting to believe is intelligent and interested in health issues.

Our Aunts & Cousins

Like Max & Me mentioned a day or two ago, we recently visited with a pair of our aunts. They are the parents of those cousins of ours that we've complained about before, Rosie the Rat Dog and Bean the Wiener. Our aunts are named LB & Nancy. They are just about the oldest people we know except for our grandma's and grandpa's. They must really like Abby's way of eating out of a bottle because our aunts seemed to be sucking on a bottle even more than Abby does. Max & Me tried to get a drink but it smelled way different than the stuff in Abby's bottle, it seemed more like the medicine we got a few weeks ago when we were sick. Maybe our aunts were sick and taking their medicine.

We heard from those cat cousins of ours that we mentioned before. Like we already told you, they live down in Arizona. We thought we were going to get to go and see them, so much so that we got all packed and ready to go. But, for reasons that have not been explained to Max & Me we didn't get to go to Arizona. So, our cat cousins sent us a picture yesterday. They make us nervous just in a picture. I don't know how well Max & Me would handle that pair in person.

Whining Works

Max & Me are learning that it really works to let our issues be known. Sure, it takes a lot of whining and complaining, but eventually we get heard and our important issues get addressed. Like we have long complained about our lack of clothes and just yesterday Max got fitted for a new shirt. Then we whined that it is our lack of footwear that really vexes us. We do have a natural fur coat afterall, but our feet have no protection. Our fur coats keeps us pretty warm except for when we get thrown outside when there is white stuff on the ground.

And on another note on a totally different subject. Max & Me have had it pointed out to us that using the phrase "Max & Me" is not grammarically correct. Well, we don't care. We like how it sounds. And might I point out that neither Max or Me has had the benefit of any sort of formal education. We are a pair of self taught poodles. And I personally think we do pretty well all things considered.

And on a related note. The spell checker on this Blogger thing has not worked for several weeks. Apparently they are working on a fix. So, if Max & Me slip up and misspell a word or two, like right now I'm not sure if there is one or two s's in misspell, please forgive us our errors. We are trying as best a pair of uneducated but very smart well-bred poodles of distinction can do.

Rosie, Bean, Abby, Emilie & Loretta

Max & Me recently had to spend some time with our badly behaved cousins, Rosie & Bean. You may remember me mentioning those two before. Rosie is a Rat Dog and Bean is a Wiener Dog. Bean has a very high pitched yappy bark that just wears on Max & My last nerve. Bean also requires a lot of attention. She has dozens of these little toys and she'll drop on in front of you and expect you to toss it so she can chase it. It's exhausting. Both Rosie and Bean showed more interest in Abby than they had on previous visits. It was like they were trying to replace Max & Me. Abby seemed to enjoy the Rat and the Wiener Dog which sort of made Max & Me a bit jealous.

While Max & Me kept an eye on Abby playing with Rosie and Bean, in another part of the room we watched while our cousin Spencer Jack's namesake, Loretta, showed Emilie how to put on fingernail polish, lipstick, eyeliner and mascara. We hate that girly stuff. They'd better not try and put any lipstick on us. We wouldn't mind having our nails done though. They take a beating because we have no shoes.

All Dressed Up & Nowhere To Go

Max & Me are sort of starting to learn that it pays to complain. Lately we have been lamenting the fact that Max & Me are the only residents in this abode who have no clothes. Or shoes. And that our neighboor, FooFoo, has all sorts of nice things to wear. So, last night I was quite surprised when Michele came into our room and put pajamas on Max. They fit him quite nicely. But I was left shivering and naked as usual. Lucky for me I have figured out how to work the thermostat.
